Hunder -Turtuk – Hunder Excursion
This journey is one of the most fascinating in Ladakh, taking you to a less popular destination recently opened to tourists. The region is primarily controlled by the Ladakh Scouts, a unique unit of the Indian Army. Turtuk, a border village recaptured by the Indian Army in 1971, is where locals have relatives across the Line of Control and rely on vegetable and apricot farming, as well as providing mules and porters. Baltistan, a beautiful village with charming people, has a unique history. “On the night of December 13, 1971, the people of this village went to sleep in Pakistan. The next morning, they woke up in India.” In Turtuk, you'll hear a villager recount the history of this remote northwest corner of Ladakh, which until that night was part of Baltistan in PoK. You will return to Nubra Valley by the evening. Overnight stay at Hunder Lodge & Camp, with a meal plan that includes breakfast and dinner.
Day 5
Nubra Valley to Pangong via Shyok route
After breakfast, visit Diskit Monastery (Big Buddha), where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Nubra Valley. Later, drive to Pangong via the Shyok River, taking in the amazing landscape and adventure along the way. Stop for lunch at Durbuk, then continue driving for another hour to Pangong Lake. Enjoy stargazing at Pangong Lake in the evening. Overnight stay at Merak Lodge & Camp, with a meal plan that includes breakfast and dinner.
